You’re A Mirror I Cannot Avoid | Bad Books

I wanna wrap myself in Manchester Orchestra lyrics.

B.O.B. samples Simple Math

I thought this might be a good thing. Maybe Manchester Orchestra will finally get the recognition they deserve. But then i listened to the song and i’m terribly upset.

I don’t like B.O.B. He’s not a good enough artist to have a single that doesn’t feature some other artist (Rivers Cuomo, Hayley Williams, Bruno Mars, Lil Wayne, Eminem). He needs their help for people to even listen to his songs. So i’m not surprised he chose to sample one of my favorite bands ever. But whoever produced it did a really bad job. It doesn’t even sound like Simple Math. They completely butchered it.

So i’m upset ‘cause the hip-hop community is going to hear this abomination and think Manchester Orchestra sucks. I hope it doesn’t become a single. I don’t want anyone to hear it.

A funny thing happened to us in Rochester, NY this past spring. We were approached outside of our tour bus around 2pm by what we figured was one of our amazingly loyal fans wanting to say hello or maybe have us sign some stuff, etc. What happened next was unexpected to say the least. He introduced himself and told us he had been working on a film for school and while editing, he had our new album “Simple Math” playing in the background. ‘Virgin’ started to play. He soon realized without that, this once silent film synced up perfectly with this song. We were skeptical to say the least, but the more he talked about it, the more we were interested in actually seeing this thing. He pulled his laptop out and placed it on the steps to the bus. We were blown away. We put him in touch with our manager and for the last few months he’s been putting the finishing touches to this incredible piece. This is that rare moment when art expands further than first intentions or expectations. Where two different inspirations can coincide to create something better. We proudly present to you: “Virgin”. (Directed by Ben Disinger)

- Andy

This morning’s playlist comes from the songs my friends and I are covering today.

We’re meeting up later and gonna play these songs:

Adam’s Song - Blink-182
Upward Over The Mountain - Iron & Wine
You’re A Mirror I Can’t Avoid - Bad Books
A Day In The Life - The Beatles
I Can Barely Breathe - Manchester Orchestra

And like the major procrastinator that i am, i’m barely learning them now so i’m listening to them over and over until i know ‘em.

I loved it when they did. Omg i’m reliving it!!

Manchester Orchestra concert

So last night i went to see Manchester Orchestra with my boyfriend and three friends. Lemme quickly go through the opening acts.

Twilight Sleep - They sounded exactly as their name suggests. Really ambient and chill. They were whatever to me.

Sleeper Agent -  The theme of the night must’ve been “sleep” or something, but they were anything but. Still not really my cup of tea though.

Finally, Manchester Orchestra came on and they opened with Simple Math. It was so awesome, you guys. Omg. I can’t even describe how awesome this concert was. They played all my favorite songs (Mean Everything, I Can Barely Breathe, Pensacola, etc) and it was an eargasm. For Pensacola, everyone was shouting out “Alcohol, dirty bars! Pensacola Florida bars!” and i sang along to every song.

They always have a different drummer for some reason. Idk why they can’t hold onto a drummer. I felt like everything was a bit too fast, but that might’ve been the adrenaline. People were moshing at one point and it got a little hectic, but i ignored ‘em and rocked out. My neck is even sore from all the headbanging!

They didn’t play Virgin, so when they were finally done, everyone knew they were gonna come back for an encore ‘cause there was just no way they were gonna end it without playing Virgin.

And lo’ and behold, the first encore song was Virgin! “Where Have You Been” was right after and that song is just so powerful… It was beautiful. And they finished it off with “Now That You’re Home” which i think is a fantastic finishing song.

I loved every second of it.

I love this band and they’re so good live and Andy Hull is a musical genius and i got to experience this all with my boyfriend and i’m just so happy.

Today’s the day.

Manchester Orchestra is tonight! I’m so excited you have no idea. And the best part is, Juan’s coming too! xD He’s gonna meet some of my friends finally and see my favorite band with me :3 Today’s gonna be awesome.

Three destructive albums.
